Ethical guidelines for peer reviewers -

Linguarum universe and its academic editors are committed to fair and professional dealing in every aspect of the publishing process. We aim at publishing original, state-of-the-art work of value to the intellectual community that will make a clear contribution to current debate in the humanities. We strive to meet the highest possible standards and we expect our reviewers and authors to do so. Honesty, originality, and fair dealing on the part of authors, and fairness, objectivity and confidentiality on the part of editors and reviewers are among the priorities that help us to achieve our aim.
Linguarum universe endorses and behaves in accordance with the codes of conduct and international standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [1], available free of charge at
 http://publicationethics.org/. Relevant documents include: Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors [2] and Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers [3].
The following edited extracts from COPE documents (Kleinert, S. and Wager, E., 2011; Wager, E. and Kleinert, S., 2011) state the key considerations for editors and authors.

Any use of copyrighted content requires the permission of the relevant right-holders, unless the appropriate exceptions and limitations related to copyright apply. (see Directive (EU) 2019/790)

Editors…
-          should make fair and unbiased decisions independent of commercial considerations, and should ensure a fair and appropriate peer review process;
-          should adopt editorial policies that encourage maximum transparency and complete, honest reporting;
-           should guard the integrity of the published record by issuing corrections and retractions when needed and pursuing suspected or alleged research and publication misconduct;
-          should have appropriate policies in place for handling editorial conflicts of interest.
The reviewers...
- are independent scientists from various academic institutions, specialists in the given scientific field.

Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest
 Each paper is reviewed by two reviewers, who have no information about the author. Materials accepted for review are considered non-disclosure documents.
Reviewers should not review manuscripts for which they have a conflict of interest arising from competition, collaboration, or other relationships with authors or institutions related to the material.

Authors …
·         should adhere to the Submission Guidelines and make sure that their materials have not been published anywhere else;
·         should ensure that they submit entirely original works. It is the author’s duty to avoid plagiarism in all its forms. The submitted materials are checked with an anti-plagiarism software.
·         should submit papers that have been conducted in an ethical and responsible manner and that comply with all relevant legislation;
·         should present their results clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation;
·         should endeavor to describe their methods clearly and unambiguously so that their findings can be confirmed by others;
·         should take responsibility for the submitted work/s, as well as their layout;
·         should ensure that the authorship (as represented in the byline for the paper) accurately reflects the individuals’ contributions to the work and its reporting;
·         should disclose relevant funding sources and any existing or potential conflicts of interest.
Authors of articles should not submit manuscripts that have been submitted to another journal. This is unethical and not acceptable.
The author of an article published in another publication should not submit it to Linguarum universe.
